The Hunt For Roxy (Song Version)
The Hunt for Roxy
(Song version sung to the tune The Battle of New Orleans
In Two Thousand Twenty Three we took a little hike
For to see the Davis Mountains, and for some to ride a bike.
We brought along our campers and we brought along our dogs,
The Javelina Roundup for to see some ornery hogs.
We’re the friends of Javelina Roundup
Helping out each other from all across the land
We drink our coffee and we gobble up some donuts
Later on we listen to our ukulele band.
Well the week went great as we visited each other,
Catching up on news and our health and aging woes.
We prayed for Charlotte and for Wayne our brother,
Listened to some poems, in the afternoon we dozed.
We’re the friends of Javelina Roundup
Helping out each other from all across the land
We drink our coffee and we gobble up some donuts
Later on we listen to our ukulele band.
On the day to leave, we awakened to the sound
Of Diane calling Roxy, she is nowhere to be found.
We searched high and low, and feared that she had fled.
But then the hunt was over, she was underneath the bed.
We searched through the briars and we searched through the brambles
And we searched through the bushes where the Javelina go,
We searched through the camp, and we searched through the mountains,
Up to Skyline Ridge on our way to Mexico!
We’re the friends of Javelina Roundup
Helping out each other from all across the land
We drink our coffee and we gobble up some donuts
Later on we listen to our ukulele band.
