Rule 7: Ride For The Brand

Back in the day of the big cattle drives
When cowboys ruled the land,
Loyalty to the outfit would keep you alive,
They called it “Ride for the Brand.”

The cowhands would all sign up for a year
Despite the hardships and work
Chasin’ and brandin’ the dogies and steers
Tough duties they’d never shirk.

Come outlaws or weather to threaten the herd,
Each man would fight to the death.
Chasin’ a stampede, they hollered and spurred,
Till both horse ‘n man’s out’a breath.

There’s lessons to learn from those rugged cowpokes
To see where your loyalties lie.
Riding for the Brand is for all us folks
Whose outfit we’d never deny.
