Based on Matthew 24 and II Thessalonians 2
When they asked the Lord what the signs would be
proclaiming the end of the age,
His first warning wasn’t of land, air, or sea
or about the wars men would wage.
“Beware,” said the Lord, “that you are not deceived
for the greatest deception of all
Will lead you away from the truth you received
when you first answered my call.”
All the terrible plagues and earthquakes and wars
can only destroy men’s bones,
But when the lie is believed, and the person deceived,
his soul is lost and alone.
What is this great lie that the Lord warned us of?
Could we possibly believe it as true?
What could seem as harmless as a dove,
yet tear men’s souls in two?
The lie is the same one that Lucifer had planned
when he stood in heaven’s great hall:
That he could be like Jesus – at God’s right hand,
and thus be lord over all.
Satan will try at the end of this age
To appear as Messiah and Friend.
To appear as Messiah and Friend.
Rejection of God is the final stage
that will bring this world to its end.
So don’t look for power from within or without.
It only comes from the Lord.
Be ready to answer the angel’s great shout,
and in heaven, you’ll find your reward.
“Beware,” said the Lord, “that you are not deceived
for the greatest deception of all
Will lead you away from the truth you received
when you first answered my call.”
