I have been honored to be named the Poet Laureate for the Grand Chapter of Texas, Order of the Eastern Star for the Grand Chapter year 2015-2016, with Mrs. Jerri Lucas as Worthy Grand Matron. Her theme is related to the Code of the West, an inspiration she took from a book, “Cowboy Ethics” by James P. Owens. In the book, the author tells of 10 unwritten rules of conduct, which if applied to business dealings today, would make the world a much better place. I took each of these 10 rules, and turned them into poems.
